Hauptsache was mit Deichkind EP
This is an exquisite and innovative version of a record you haven't seen so far. Not only does this vinyl contain 6 carefully crafted pieces of electronic indie pop, but also a 2,70m (3,2ft) long and painstakingly hand glued (!) leporello, depicting photographs of Rickie Lee tailored to each track and its internal message. The songs are renditions and re-inventions of German Hip Hop legend Deichkind (therefore, as an homage, the title of this concept EP being "Hauptsache was mit Deichkind") and honoring the genius of Austrian pop export "Bilderbuch". This record has additionally been graced with liner notes written by award winning journalist and author Andrian Kreye.
Rickie Lee Kroell's voice brings out an entirely new level of depth to these highly sociocritical yet tongue-in-cheek songs which had originally always been performed through rap, and adds a new layer of possibilities of interpretation. Her unique timbre, originally coming from jazz and pop, melts with the sonic landscape of a sometimes hard hitting, yet silky and conceptual production.
